Run.

Nine hours of sleep last night made for a nine mile run this morning. My original goal was eight miles in an hour but I only made it to 7.75 so I decided to keep going. Hit the nine mile mark in 70 minutes.

Not. Too. Shabby.

Did a set of 55′s for fun then came back home and  get a lecture from Ian about how the point of a long, slow run is to run slowly.  I always forget that part (not really). Can’t blame him though…he’s lived through my multiple running injuries and the corresponding bad moods when I’m off the road for weeks or (heaven help us) months.

But now that I’m running pain free for the first time in over a year, I can’t help but get caught up in the pure joy of it. I just want to go faster and faster and never stop. Sometimes it feels like my feet aren’t touching the ground although that’s probably because there isn’t any shooting pain with every step. Not every run is perfect of course. We all have days when our legs feel heavy or 5K seems impossible, but I’ll even take those.  I’m just aiming to enjoy every stride and go as fast as my legs can take me.
