Bucket List 2014

January 8, 2014

Pushing my limits and living an active life are so important to me. Every year I try to attempt something new or better my performance in something I’m already doing. This year, I’ve come up with five things I’d like to achieve:

  • Take horseback riding lessons. I’ve ridden a couple of times, but want to learn how to do it properly (and well)
  • Take swimming lessons / finally conquer my fear of the water
  • Run in four races (already signed up for the Yonge St 10K and the Toronto Waterfront 1/2 Marathon)
  • Complete a Tough Mudder or a similar obstacle course
  • Tour PEI by bike

I’m going to revisit this post in December to see how I did and I’ll definitely be blogging about my adventures as I go along. The swimming posts should be especially amusing/terrifying depending on your point of view.

Of course, I can’t spend the whole year tackling goals. A girl has to have some fun! I’m sure I’ll think of stuff to add to this list, but for now it’s a good starting point for a pretty fantastic year!

  • Skate the figure eight trail at Colonel Sam Smith Park
  • Cross-country ski
  • Visit the pandas at the Toronto Zoo
  • Go on a weekend yoga/running retreat
  • Fly a kite at the Scarborough Bluffs
  • Have a picnic at Thomson Park and relive my youth
  • Take a book and a blanket to the Toronto Islands and “waste” an entire day laying in the sun
  • Bike the Don Valley Trail and visit the Brick Works
  • Sit in the cheap seats at a Jays game and eat overpriced hot dogs
  • Fourth annual Ottawa Bluesfest pilgrimage

Any suggestions on other fun things to try this year? What do you have on your list?

Hi Sara, I like your post – you’ve got a good balance of fun and practical things on your list 🙂 I’m scared of deep water so I can see where you’re coming from on the water front – good luck tackling those fears and hopefully I’ll conquer some of mine this year! I wrote a similar post at wp.me/p35YHG-a0 about creating an Energy List – check it out! 🙂
