April 6, 2014

Spent an hour in High Park with Ian and Riley this afternoon. After a winter that seemed like it would never end, one in which polar vortexes ruled and ice storms destroyed Christmas, SPRING has finally arrived. You can tell by the way you’re able to make eye contact with people because you don’t have to watch your step on icy sidewalks. You can tell by how many people are outside and how happy they all look. You can tell by hearing the kids run around the neighbourhood. But the biggest proof of all…no coat. I was outside today without a coat and it was glorious.

Needless to say, I am in a fantastic mood. Two days of great runs and a couple of long walks in the sunshine have injected me with some serious Vitamin D. Combine that with remembering why I actually like eating clean (thank you Whole 30) and I’m pretty much ready to take on the world.  I guess I had eaten clean for so long that I somehow forgot just how much moods, sleep cycles, energy levels and a whole host of other things are affected by putting junk in our bodies. Definitely won’t make that mistake again.  Sugar really is the worst and, for me anyway, gluten is a close second.

Anyway, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and there are a few more hours left on this weekend before we start a new week. Let’s make them good ones!
