Ian and I went for dinner with my brother and teenage niece this evening. It was a great time with a lot of laughs, some of which surrounded their completely inappropriate choice of restaurant for my current dietary requirements. We went to Duff’s, a restaurant which specializes in chicken wings and other deep fried, not even close to healthy food.

This place was absolutely rammed and every table had big bowls of chicken wings, fries, burgers etc. What did I have? The spring mix salad with cucumber, strawberries and grilled chicken. The salad itself was fine…nothing outstanding, but perfectly acceptable. However, this may have been the most dissatisfied I’ve ever been with a salad simply because it wasn’t a big plate of honey garlic chicken wings. I watched the other three chow down on their orders of wings and share a big bowl of fries and tried to convince myself that I was in no way craving that sugary, fatty goodness. Truth be told, I eventually did snap and had one wing and a few fries. I’m strong but I’m not invincible!

All in all a great evening. Every time the four of us hang out I wonder why we don’t do it more often. I should really do something about that and make it happen.
