In Which I Get Sick

May 13, 2014

Sick. My stupid fiance made me sick. The weather finally gets nice and warm and I’m bundled up in sweats with a sore throat and cough. I swear if I still feel this crappy tomorrow, I’m breaking up with him.**

If you’re in the same boat as me and fighting a cold, you might want to use something that I initially scoffed at and now swear by – Oil of Oregano.  Seriously folks, if you haven’t discovered this yet, do some research on it. You put a few drops under your tongue twice a day as soon as you feel the symptoms coming on and continue dosing until you’re back to normal. I was one of those people who had colds that would last for WEEKS but since starting to use this stuff, I haven’t had one last for more than a few days.  Fair warning – the taste is horrible at first (it is concentrated oregano after all), but after a few doses you won’t notice it.  You can also try chasing the drops with some OJ or something if you’re very sensitive.

Interestingly, researching it turns up evidence that it can be used to treat a number of conditions including parasites and skin diseases. I can’t speak to its effectiveness for these having only used it for colds, but there seems to be some positive results from small studies.

Of course your mileage may vary and what works for me might not work for you. It might be worth a try though if you don’t want to be fighting colds all summer!

**not really
