What If?

May 19, 2014

Today was a holiday in Canada (Victoria Day) and we “celebrated” by taking the kids out for a picnic, watching The Empire Strikes Back and eating Magic Oven pizza for dinner. The Magic Euphoria pizza (chicken, eggplant, sweet peppers and caramelized onion) on a gluten free crust is just multiple slices of heaven. It’s so good that I ended up feeding Ian extra slices to keep from eating them myself.  HA!

Back to work tomorrow. As much as I love my company and job, the end of the long weekend is always bitter sweet. I would love to be financially independent now and able to live the way I hope to live in retirement. I’d buy a house on the Cabot Trail right on a cliff overlooking the ocean and watch the sunrise every morning April through October.  For the winter, I’d have a property down south somewhere (Costa Rica?) so I can ride horses and commune with nature. It would be very peaceful and just focused on feeling each and every moment. It’s so easy to forget to do that when you’re running from home to the gym to work to kids’ activities and back home again. Hell it’s easy to forget to breathe or eat let alone live in the moment.

What about you? If you didn’t have to work, where would you be? What would you do?

  1. I wish every weekend was a three day one. I’m always so exhausted on Mondays. If I could, I’d love to travel the world and run races everywhere!!! Just need to win the lottery (or get a sponsor).

  2. Great post and I hope you’re having a wonderful week!! I’d love to spend all of my time exploring marine animals/living at the beach!!!

  3. I am very fortunate to be semi retired. When you look back you will think wow those years flew by. Hubby and I are fortunate to travel quite a bit which was always a dream of ours when we were running around like maniacs with our kids. 🙂

    • Travelling is a big dream for Ian and I as well. Hopefully we’re lucky enough to be in your shoes at some point! Enjoy your travels 🙂

      • Thanks so much. I hope you and Ian do indeed find yourselves on a similar path. All the very best!
