What’s Next?

May 26, 2014

What a fantastic day. No post-race let down (at least not yet). Woke up pumped and hit the gym hard with a back/shoulders/abs circuit that left me out of breath and sweaty. Just the way I like it! Had my pedicure and massage, took Riley to the park, read on the front porch and indulged in a scoop of salted caramel ice cream. Pretty much the perfect day off.

Of course I’m already thinking about the next race. Technically I don’t have one until a 10K in September but maybe I could get another one under my belt in between? The damn things are as addictive as tattoos. It’s partially having a goal to aim for but also the adrenaline rush when you’re crossing that finish line. Just knowing that you’ve accomplished something…there it is and no-one can take it away from you. It’s a pretty great feeling.

I will probably focus on speed training next so I can kick Ian’s butt in September as pay back for his win in April. I’ve missed running (almost) every day and working on things other than distance. That being said, I think I’ll take the next little while to just run without setting any performance goals. Get grounded again and just run for the pure pleasure of it. And that starts tomorrow!
