Salmon Burger!

I’m back with another burger recipe!

Can’t remember where I originally saw this one, but I found it in a magazine years ago. High in protein and omega 3 fatty acids, this patty is incredibly nutritious and tastes ah-mazing. The texture won’t be your typical burger, but it’s so good you won’t care.

Salmon & Avocado Burger (makes 4)


  • 1/2 lb fresh salmon fillets
  • 1/2 avocado, diced
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 green onion, diced
  • 3 tbsp flax meal
  • 2-3 tbsp fresh dill, diced
  • dash lemon juice

You’ll need to grill these on a flat surface so use either a flat top grill or frying pan.  Either way, heat it up.

Remove skin from salmon and discard (or feed to your very grateful dog). Chop salmon into small pieces and throw into a mixing bowl. Stir in all ingredients other than avocado. Once well combined, add in the avocado and mix gently.

To make the patties, you’ll need about a 1/2 cup of the mixture. Form each scoop into a ball, put it on the grill then press down on each one with a spatula. Cook for about four minutes on each side. They should be crisp and toasty looking when ready.

I personally like these on Boston lettuce but a multi-grain bun would work as well if you’re into such things.
